On June 16th, the Central Bank of Ireland hosted us for two really enjoyable events. The day kicked off with a media engagement session and a presentation from Jim Carroll, editor of RTE Brainstorm on how to pitch and write an article. This was followed by Q&A with Jim, Martina Lawless, and Emma Howard with lots of insights into how to disseminate economics ideas and research to the general public.

We then had lunch and networking, including a series of flash talks from economists across the private and public sector. We heard from Dave O’Connell, Loretta O’Sullivan, Martina Lawless, Anne Marie McKiernan, Stephen Kinsella, Benjamin Elsner, Rowena Dwyer, and Megan Roberts who all discussed their careers to date, what helped them progress, and what they wished they’d known when they started out.
